The aim of the course is to help improve your personal financial situation, for you to develop an understanding of how the financial services industry impacts our lives and to be able to effectively evaluate personal financial decisions and make the best choice.

On completion of this qualification you will be able to:

  • appreciate the benefits of chosing the right financial products, and how these can contribute to achieving your personal aspirations
  • develop an awareness of risk and reward, and the obligations associated with different financial solutions
  • understand the concept of ‘money’ in all its forms, and how its value is subject to time and circumstance
  • understand the scope of the financial services industry and how it impacts upon us
  • appreciate how different external factors impact upon you directly, and indirectly
  • compare and contrast a range of financial solutions and draw reasoned, informed and sound financial judgements in particular contexts

You will develop collaborative learning practices, contributing  to group presentations, creating your own work and developing online material.

This programme is designed to get you thinking about the money in your pocket and how to make the best decisions for maximising your cash. Successful completion of CeFS may enable you to progress to the DipFS (A2).

Who is this course for?: 

16-18 year old students interested in improving their understanding of financial services products.

Entry Requirements: 

5 GCSE's A-C, including English and Maths.

This course is only available to A level / BTEC National students enrolled at Tower Hamlets College.
CeFS is part of a full-time programme - you must be enrolled on other courses at THC to be elligible for this course.
